Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation Kęty
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation in Kęty is a Baroque church located in the town center at 4 Adama Mickiewicza Street, in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. It is the oldest building in Kęty, with origins dating back to the Middle Ages, when a wooden church of Saints Margaret and Catherine stood here. The current church, rebuilt after a fire during the Swedish Deluge, incorporates parts of the Gothic walls and features a tall, four-sided tower with a Neo-Baroque dome. Inside, there is a revered Gothic painting of Our Lady of Consolation from the 15th century, crowned in 1988. The Marian cult led to the church being designated a sanctuary in 2025. The interior is adorned with Baroque altars, a pulpit, and stucco decorations. The sanctuary is open daily, with longer hours on Sundays, allowing for quiet visits and prayer. It is an important site for pilgrims and those interested in religious history and art.
