Hunting Palace in Antonin

The Hunting Palace in Antonin is a unique wooden monument nestled in the forests of Greater Poland, by Lake Szperek, between Ostrzeszów and Ostrów Wielkopolski. Built between 1822 and 1824 for Prince Antoni Radziwiłł, the governor of the Grand Duchy of Posen, it was designed by the renowned architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The structure features an octagonal core with four wings, and its interior boasts an impressive free-standing Doric column that also serves as a chimney. Today, the palace houses a café and restaurant, as well as hotel rooms. Frédéric Chopin stayed here in 1827 and 1829, giving concerts and music lessons; his legacy is preserved through a piano, a monument, and an exhibition. The surrounding English-style park is dotted with trees designated as natural monuments. After renovation in 1994, the palace received the Europa Nostra award. This site combines history, architecture, and music, offering guided tours and a chance to relax in nature.
