Kamienica Pod Złotym Słoniem

Kamienica Pod Złotym Słoniem is a historic tenement house in Kraków, in the Old Town, at 11 Wszystkich Świętych Square, at the corner with Grodzka Street 17. It was separated from the neighboring tenement house at 15 Grodzka Street after the great fire of Kraków in 1850. The facade of the building features a relief depicting a golden elephant, which gave the house its name. In 1932, Tadeusz Oświecimski founded a pharmacy on the ground floor, which, after the house sign, was called the 'Pharmacy Under the Golden Elephant'. In 1950, the tenement house became the property of the city and housed the Department of Culture of the Kraków City Office. In 2018, by a court decision, it was handed over to the Jan and Tadeusz Oświecimski Foundation, established by the last heiress of the pre-war owners. The building is listed in the register of monuments under number A-555. It is an interesting place for lovers of Kraków's history and architecture, located in the very center of the city.
