Szczawnica Spa

Szczawnica Spa is a picturesque town nestled at the foot of Mount Bryjarka, in the Dunajec River valley, right next to the Pieniny National Park. Surrounded by coniferous and larch forests, it serves as an excellent base for hiking in the Pieniny Mountains. The town is famous for its mineral waters, known as 'szczawy', which have been used in treatments for over 200 years. In the center, a chairlift takes visitors up to Palenica, offering panoramic views of the Tatra Mountains, Pieniny, and Beskid Sądecki. For the active, there are numerous hiking trails, cycling routes of varying difficulty, and horse riding paths. One of the main attractions is a raft trip through the Dunajec River Gorge, starting in Sromowce and ending in Szczawnica. In winter, a ski slope with FIS homologation and artificial snow, as well as a snowpark, are available. Nearby, you can visit the castles in Czorsztyn and Niedzica, as well as Lake Czorsztyńskie. The spa also offers the possibility to cross the pedestrian and cycling border in the Pieniny to explore the Slovak village of Leśnica and the Red Monastery. This is an ideal place for families, seniors, and all nature lovers.
