Borsuczyny

Borsuczyny is a peak in the Little Pieniny Mountains, reaching an elevation of 939 meters above sea level. It is located in the village of Jaworki, in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, near the Polish-Slovak border. The summit is rocky and steep, covered with spruce forest, and rises only slightly above the main ridge of the range. The state border runs across the peak, with the Polish slopes belonging to Jaworki and the southern, Slovakian slopes protected within the PIENAP national park. Nearby are the passes Stachurówki and Kapralowa Wysoka, as well as the Połonina Kiczera clearing, which is a remnant of former agricultural fields used by the Lemko people. A marked hiking trail leads to Borsuczyny, running along the ridge of the Little Pieniny, for example from the Dunajec River Gorge towards the Beskid Sądecki mountains. The approach from the southeast is steep and rocky, but there is also a well-trodden path that bypasses the summit. In 2016, a protected species of moss, Neckera besseri, was found here. This is an interesting destination for mountain hiking enthusiasts, offering views of the surrounding peaks and opportunities to observe nature.
