Bear Cave in Kletno

The Bear Cave in Kletno is one of the largest and deepest caves in Poland, located in the Śnieżnik Massif in the Kłodzko Valley, on the right slope of the Kleśnica Valley. Its corridors extend for over 4,500 meters, with a height difference of 118 meters between the highest and lowest points. The cave is renowned for its rich speleothems, formed by waters with high carbonate content that deposit calcite as cascades, stalactites, and other formations. The temperature inside remains around 6°C, and humidity approaches 100%, which helps preserve its unique microclimate. Visits are guided and last about 45 minutes, leading through the middle sections of the cave. A special section is accessible for wheelchair users, and wider wheelchairs can be borrowed on site. Visitors may encounter bats such as the greater mouse-eared bat or the barbastelle, as well as rare invertebrates like the cave shrimp. Due to the fragile microclimate, the number of visitors is limited, so advance booking is recommended. Parking is located about a kilometer from the entrance, with a 30-minute walk or a melex shuttle available. The cave is open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:40 PM, except Mondays and Thursdays (open on Thursdays from May to August). It is a fascinating destination for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone interested in exploring an underground world of dripstones and ancient history.
