Museum Church of the Holy Cross
The Museum Church of the Holy Cross in Zittau is a place where you can admire the Great Zittau Lenten Veil from 1472 – the only one of its kind in Germany and the third largest surviving Lenten veil in the world, measuring 8.20 meters in height and 6.80 meters in width. It is displayed in the world's largest museum showcase, a fact recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. The church housing the museum is a Gothic single-nave church in the Bohemian style, with early Baroque furnishings and remnants of Gothic wall paintings. The site is open seasonally: from mid-April to October 31 daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and outside the season from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free. The museum offers guided tours, and a public transport stop is nearby. It is an attraction for everyone – families, adults, seniors, groups, and school trips. Allow 1 to 3 hours for a visit. Contact: phone 03583-5008920, email info@zittauer-fastentuecher.de, website www.zittauer-fastentuecher.de.
