Polanica Bears is a unique collection of small bear figurines that have been appearing in the public space of Polanica-Zdrój since May 2022. Each of the roughly 30-centimeter-tall sculptures has its own story and reflects the local character of the town. The first bear, holding a glass for drinking mineral water, was placed in front of the Mineral Water Pump Room, and others can be found in places such as Szachowy Park, where two bears play chess, in front of the Zdrojowy Theatre, near a kindergarten, or in front of the Barbara Glassworks. Among the bears are also characters like a steelworker, a spa guest, an editor, or an official with a briefcase full of plans. In June 2025, two new bears joined the collection: the Friendship Bear Polanica-Zdrój – Telgte, symbolizing cooperation with the German town, and the Official Bear. Walking the bear trail is a great attraction for families with children, but also an opportunity to discover the nooks of this spa town. It is also worth noticing the sculpture of a polar bear standing in the Forest Park, which commemorates the extent of the Scandinavian ice sheet from hundreds of thousands of years ago. The collection is free and accessible all year round, and visiting it usually takes one to three hours.
