Warsaw Old Town

Warsaw Old Town is the historic heart of Poland's capital, located in Warsaw. Its origins date back to the 12th century, and today it stands as a unique example of the reconstruction of a historic urban complex. In 1980, the Old Town was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, highlighting its global significance. During World War II, as a result of the Warsaw Uprising, over 85 percent of its buildings were destroyed. Thanks to a tremendous social effort involving workers, teachers, and artists, churches, palaces, and tenement houses were rebuilt. Today, the Old Town is full of life, with numerous museums, galleries, libraries, and art studios.
