Żerański Park

Park Żerański is a Warsaw park located on the grounds of a former, never fully completed river port along the Żerań Canal. It was created in the spirit of the concept of "fourth nature," i.e., ecosystems that spontaneously regenerate in post-industrial areas. The design, by the Archigrest and TopoScape studios, deliberately preserves relics of the former Faelbet house factory and concrete rubble, referencing the district's industrial history. Small architecture, such as gazebos, food pavilions, and shelters, was made of gray prefabricated elements with exposed aggregate. The park combines recreational functions with the requirements of navigation on the Żerań Canal – thanks to new mooring dolphins and floating piers, residents gained access to the waterfront. Over time, the entire complex is to be almost completely absorbed by the expanding forest. Park Żerański was shortlisted among 25 best projects competing for the European Prize for Urban Public Space 2026, as the only Polish entry. This distinction confirms the high position of Polish landscape architecture in Europe. The park has also already won an award from the Property Design portal.
