Homole Gorge

Homole Gorge is a picturesque nature reserve located in the Little Pieniny Mountains, near the village of Jaworki, about 7 km from Szczawnica. Established in 1963, it covers an area of approximately 58.64 hectares and is managed by the Krościenko Forest District. The gorge is about 800 meters long, with walls built mainly of Jurassic and Cretaceous limestones, reaching up to 120 meters in height and forming a characteristic V-shaped canyon. The Kamionka stream flows along the bottom, creating numerous cascades and scenic bends. A green hiking trail about 1.3 km long runs through the gorge, taking 30-40 minutes one way. The path is easy but not suitable for strollers due to footbridges and stairs. Along the way, you pass rocks named Wapiennik, Grzebień, or Wysoka Skała, and at the end, there is a panorama of Wysoka, the highest peak of the Pieniny Mountains. The gorge is especially beautiful in autumn when the leaves change color. Entry is free, and there are paid parking lots (15-20 PLN per day) and a shelter with educational boards at the entrance. It is a popular attraction in the Pieniny, so it can be crowded during the season, but it is worth visiting at any time of year.
