Wysoka in the Pieniny Mountains – Wysokie Skałki

Wysoka, also known as Wysokie Skałki, is the highest peak of the Pieniny Mountains, rising to 1050 meters above sea level. It is located in the Little Pieniny range, near the village of Jaworki in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. Despite being in the Pieniny, it is this peak, not the more famous Trzy Korony, that is the highest point of these mountains. A scenic hiking trail leads to Wysoka, starting in Jaworki and passing through the Homole Gorge, where you can admire rock formations and cross the Kamionka stream over metal footbridges. The route takes about 2 hours one way and covers 3.6 km with an elevation gain of 515 m. Along the way, you pass Dubantowska Glade with the Stone Books, and then Pieniny Glade, offering views of the Radziejowa Range. From the summit, where there is a viewing platform, you can see the Pieniny Proper, the Tatra Mountains, and the Spiš Magura. Near the summit lies the Wysokie Skałki Nature Reserve, protecting the only fragment of natural spruce forest of the upper montane zone in the Pieniny. It is an excellent place for hiking enthusiasts, families with children (aged 6 and up), and those collecting peaks of the Crown of Polish Mountains. Entry is free, and there is a paid parking lot at the entrance to Jaworki. A tent base 'Pod Wysoką' operates nearby.
