Church of St. Anne in Zieleniec

The Church of St. Anne in Zieleniec is a Neo-Romanesque temple located in the district of Duszniki-Zdrój, which becomes a lively ski resort during the winter season. Built from erratic field stones, it was erected on the site of an earlier wooden church from the 18th century, thanks to the efforts of Father Augustyn Grund, parish priest from 1890 to 1918. The consecration took place in 1904, performed by Cardinal Leon Skrbeński, Archbishop of Prague. Outside, by the main entrance, there are Baroque statues of the Holy Cross and the Virgin Mary, transferred from the previous church. The interior is decorated in the Neo-Romanesque style, except for the Baroque cover of the baptismal font. The main altar houses a painting of St. Anne and St. Joachim, as well as figures of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Next to the altar, there is a plaque commemorating the consecration. The church was renovated in 1966, and in 1974 the cemetery was tidied up and fenced, featuring a historic sandstone crucifixion group from 1899. This intimate place encourages reflection and offers a moment of respite for both skiers and tourists.
