Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój

The Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój is a unique monument of technology housed in a 17th-century paper mill. The facility is located on the Bystrzyca Dusznicka River, on the southern outskirts of the town, along the route leading towards the Czech border. The history of the paper mill dates back to the 16th century, with the first mentions from the second half of that century, when a papermaker named Ambrosius Tepper worked here. The main building of the mill, which once served residential and production purposes, was erected in 1605. Over the centuries, the mill was run by the distinguished Kretschmer, Heller, and Wiehr families, and in the 17th century it was among the most highly regarded in Silesia, even holding a monopoly on supplying paper to the Wrocław offices. Today, visitors can learn about the history of papermaking, see historic machinery and equipment, and participate in papermaking workshops. It is an ideal place for families, school groups, and anyone interested in the region's industrial heritage. The museum also offers a café, a gift shop, and guided tours.
